The Srinagar–Jammu national highway reopened to two-way traffic early Friday after a three-day closure caused by heavy snowfall along the higher mountain stretches, district officials confirmed.

Clearing crews worked through the week to remove accumulated snow and ice from the route's most exposed sections, which had left hundreds of vehicles stranded at lower checkpoints earlier in the week.

Officials are still advising caution for drivers on the higher passes, where icy patches remain in shaded sections of the road even after clearing. Convoys are being organized at peak hours to keep traffic moving safely.

The highway is the primary road link between the Valley and Jammu, and closures of this length typically cause backlogs in fresh produce and fuel supply reaching Srinagar markets within a day or two.
